Siew Kim. Mr Wee was elected Member of Parliament, Ang Mo Kio GRC,
Jalan Kayu Division in November 2001.
Mr
Wee is President (Defence Business) and Deputy CEO (Aerospace and Marine) of Singapore Technologies
Engineering, an aerospace and defence engineering company listed
on the Stock Exchange of Singapore.
Mr Wee was educated in Raffles Institution
and graduated from the Imperial College of Science and Technology,
University of London in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science (Aeronautical
Engineering) First Class Honours. He also received a Master in
Business Administration at the Graduate School of Business, Stanford
University under a company sponsorship.
Upon graduation, Mr Wee joined Singapore Aircraft
Industries (the predecessor company of Singapore Technologies
Aerospace) as an engineer. Through the years, he had assumed appointments
in engineering and management. He was President of Singapore Technologies
Aerospace for three and a half years and had spent about five
years in various assignments in the United States of America,
People’s Republic of China and Europe. Prior to his present
role in Singapore Technologies Engineering, Mr Wee was based in
London and tasked with growing the presence of the company in
Europe.
In 2000, he was recognised for his role
in fostering strong management and labour relations with an award
from the Singapore Industrial & Services Employees’
Union.
