More than 500 residents joined MP Mr Wee Siew Kim and Jln Kayu grassroots leaders in a countdown party on 31 Dec 2009 at Jln Kayu Hall in Hwi Yoh CC.

There was a huge board by one corner of the hall for residents to pen their New Year wishes. There were also games stalls and stage show to entertain the crowd before the countdown.

When the clock struck 12 mid-night, the lights were turned off and the hall was filled with a vibrant display of laser light. Many residents were so soaked in the festive mood that they continued to party on after the VIPs have left after the countdown.
